Indiana Lake Trout Tips
The lake trout (Salvelinus namaycush).  These fish are commonly
referred to as greasers.  The reason being that they are 50% fat.
They will not hold up well in the freezer, especially over an extended
period of time.

Most are caught running downriggers on Lake Michigan.  The main bait
used are trolling spoons and minnow imitating lures.  Most of the lake
trout that you find will be fish eaters.  Some will feed on insects and
crawdads, but for the most part, they will be feeding on fish.

In the spring and the fall months, these fish can be caught without the
use of downriggers, and they do wage an awesome dogged deep
battle.
