Indiana Turkey Hunting
The Turkey Tactics are not intended to be a comprehensive guide
to hunting turkeys in the great state of Indiana, but they will give
some helpful hints and tips here and there.  Don't know how large
it will grow in the future though.

Indiana turkey hunting hasn't been a main stay in Hoosier Hunters
sights for too many years.  The DNR has done a wonderful job at
getting these birds to the level they are at.  They are not only
sustaining their population levels, but their population is growing.
We now have a fall hunting season for both archery and firearms.
The bag limit is for one bird of either sex.  The fact that hen
turkeys can be bagged in the fall just shows you how well the
turkey population is growing.

Shotguns from 10 gauge to 20 gauge may be used to hunt
turkeys.  The shot size will range from size 4 to size 7 1/2.  During
the archery season, crossbows are allowed.  I wouldn't expect to
find your bolt after the shot though.  At the speed the crossbow
fires the arrow at, it will go through the bird and continue until it
hits a tree.  Be careful not to have two birds lined up when you
take your shot or you will be over your bag limit.
