Indiana Catfish Tips
In rivers it is hard to beat using limb lines or trot lines for catfish.  This
allows you to fish quite a few baits at one time.

In lakes, drift fishing is an excellent way to locate and catch catfish.  A
popular method is to drift fish nightcrawlers along the bottom for
channel catfish.

A lot of blue catfish are caught on minnows, but there are some that
are caught on other baits as well.  Target the shallow areas of rivers at
night for these feeding fish.

Channel catfish are caught on a number of different baits, but our best
luck has been using chicken livers and nightcrawlers.  If we use
nightcrawlers on limblines, we make sure they are shallow enough to
avoid the bait skinners from stealing all of our bait.

Flathead bite best on live minnows, but a lot of them are caught on
crawdads and cut fish bait.  Find a slow moving section of river that
has some deep holes, and you should find your flathead catfish  there.
That would make an excellent place to put a trot line.

A lot of people prefer bluegills as flathead bait, but small bullheads
seem to work out the best for us.  Flathead catfish just love these
little guys.
