Indiana Carp Fishing

HERE CARP CARP CARP
Seems to be a bit of confusion when it comes to carp and buffalo.
Many people erroneously refer to one or the other as buffalo carp.
Buffalo are native to North America and Carp are Asian imports.

It seems that in 1871 the United States looked at increasing our fish
food supply and came to the conclusion that carp was the answer
since they could survive in more conditions than other fish, could live
on vegetation, and would reach larger sizes faster.  By 1877 the carp
were in some private ponds and lakes.

It looks as if other states started getting fingerlings in 1879.  There
were 24 states that received these fish.  By 1896 almost 2 1/2 million
carp were shipped out to the various states at the time.  By the end of
World War II, the United States was producing over 35 million pounds
of carp a year.

So during a time of great need in this great country, the carp came to
save the day.  They are still a good food fish if caught from cleaner
waters and they are one heck of a sport fish as there is no quit in
them when you hook into one.
